U-PASS Referendum Information Booth

The future of the U-PASS program at UBC Okanagan will be decided this spring. Students are encouraged to participate in the upcoming referendum, running March 3–6, to help shape the future of student transit access on campus.

The referendum asks whether students support linking the mandatory U-PASS fee to the cost of an Adult 30-Day Kelowna Regional Transit Pass, with a minimum 11.25% subsidy from UBC. If approved, the student U-PASS fee would increase from $63 to $71 per term starting September 2026, and future rates would automatically adjust in line with regional transit fare changes—without requiring additional referendums.

Voting “Yes”   Voting “No”
This would secure continued access to significantly discounted, unlimited transit—approximately four months of travel for the price of one. Could result in reduced service levels or the potential termination of the U-PASS program by Kelowna Regional Transit under the current agreement.

Students can vote online through UBC’s Simply Voting platform from March 3–6.
