UBC Okanagan employees can access a free 30-day transit pass valid throughout the Kelowna Regional Transit. No long-term commitments, activate when it works for you and save money on your commute.

This pilot program is running September 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027. Available to current UBC Okanagan faculty and staff while supplies last. Eligible employees can only receive one free 30-day transit pass.

How it works

  1. Request a free transit pass using the online form (link below).
  2. Once eligibility has been verified (typically within 5 business days), you will be emailed a Umo Benefit Code for your free 30-day transit pass.
  3. Activate your free 30-Day transit pass in the Umo app or in your Umo online account.

Enjoy riding transit for free for 30 days from the date of activation.

Done your free trial and want to keep riding transit?

UBCO employees can enrol for ProPASS to receive a 50% discount on monthly transit passes when you commit to a four-month pass period.

Try Transit FAQ

You can activate your pass at any time and use it for 30 consecutive days from the date of activation.

The free 30-day UBCO Try Transit passes are accepted on all routes within the Kelowna Regional Transit system and the 90 UBCO/Vernon route.

The UBCO ProPASS periods are fixed. You will have to wait until the next ProPASS enrolment period to open.

UBCO ProPASS periods are:

  • Fall: September – December (Enrolment open throughout August)
  • Winter: January – April (Enrolment open throughout December)
  • Summer: May – August (Enrolment open throughout April)

 

Umo is BC Transit’s digital fare payment system. The Umo app as a comprehensive fare payment system, which also offers real-time information, maps, and alerts. Users can also choose to set up an Umo account online, and register a reloadable Umo card to use instead of an app.
