Construction and Road Closure Updates

Current construction projects and road closures at UBC Okanagan are detailed in the below map. It is regularly updated to help users navigate campus with highlighted affected areas and guidance on alternative routes for safe and efficient movement around construction zones.

As a result of construction of the new Child Care Facility south of the existing Daycare Building on Discovery Avenue, there will be disruptions to site access until Fall 2024 as detailed below, and as shown in the Construction Map above.

This work will result in the following disruptions:

  • Reduced on site parking within the Child Care Facility site. Additional stalls along Discovery Avenue have been identified to provide additional parking for pick-up/ drop-off during construction.
  • Single-lane alternating vehicle access to parking Lot W, south of the Child Care Facility site. Access to the accessible stalls within Lot W have been maintained.

As a result of the construction of x̌əl sic snpax̌nwixʷtn south of the EME Building on Alumni Avenue, there will be disruptions to the surrounding campus area until late 2025 as detailed below and as shown in the Construction Map above.

This work will result in the following disruptions:

  • Intermittent single lane and/or full closures to through traffic along Alumni Avenue. Please follow the directions of traffic control personnel and all signage as marked.
  • Sidewalk closure along the east side of Alumni Avenue. Pedestrians using Alumni Avenue to travel to and from Parking Lot J are required to cross at the crosswalk at the top of the Lot J stairs and use the detour routes as marked (also shown within the Construction Map).
  • Access to Parking Lot J will remain open on Alumni Avenue. The east side of Lot J will remain closed to parking throughout construction.
  • The EME building will have disrupted service access until 2025. Temporary service has been accommodated around the building to ensure building operations can continue.
