Carpooling
Ride-sharing, or carpooling, provides you with an easy way to save money, lessen your environmental impact and reduce the stress of commuting. Sharing rides helps to reduce traffic congestion and can even help you get to where you need to go faster by using HOV lanes.
Parking lots G and H on campus have reserved carpooling spaces, administered by UBC Parking Services.
Set up your own carpool
If you’d like to try and set up a carpool with people in your office or class, here are some tips:
- Create your own sign-up sheet or download this sample carpool sign-up template.
- Once complete, people will be able to identify matches based on the information provided.
- Print out a regional map and put it up in your workplace and ask people who are interested in carpooling to place sticky notes where they live (approximately to avoid privacy concerns) and their contact information.
- Carpoolers can then self-organize with others who live in their area.
- If you establish a regular carpool arrangement with a group, discuss and agree on a compensation arrangement that suits everyone.
