Program Information

UBC Okanagan Sustainable Transportation and Campus Security have partnered to allow students, faculty and staff to borrow a high-security bike lock if they forget or have lost their bike lock.

How it Works

  1. Visit Campus Security Dispatch in the Administration Building – off of the main courtyard.
  2. Complete the Loan Agreement (you can also get a paper form from Campus Security)
  3. Borrow a lock for the day (and return it by 8:00pm)

Eligibility

All current UBC Okanagan Campus students, faculty and staff are eligible. Users must provide their UBCO student or employee ID number, name, contact information and agree to the program terms.

Liability Waiver

  • UBCO is not responsible for any damage the bike lock may cause to your bike.
  • Bike locks are not foolproof. Users indemnify UBCO from any liability against theft when you are using a lock borrowed through this program. This includes theft that results from you failing to properly secure the lock.

Bike Registration

  • Cyclists are encouraged to register their bikes with Project 529, a community-based bike registration and recovery service.
  • The 529 Garage app can be downloaded on your smartphone and allows riders to record unique details of their bikes crucial to helping stolen bikes get returned.
